Eugene Cantor retired in 2015 after 31 years of federal service to return to his alma mater the University of Maryland to teach on a full-time basis. He served 25 years as an attorney with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, an office of the United States Treasury Department. He also served as an investigative auditor with the former General Accounting Office, as an attorney with the United States Securities & Exchange Commission and as a legal honors intern with the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Cantor also practiced tax and corporate law with a Miami law firm and was the general counsel of a Miami-based investment banking firm. He was a member of the University of Maryland adjunct faculty for ten years before joining the Maryland faculty full-time.  He teaches courses in taxation and financial and managerial accounting in Maryland’s undergraduate, MBA, OMBA, MS and Business Minor programs. He is a member of the Florida Bar and a Maryland CPA.  He received the Krowe Teaching Excellence Award in 2007 and 2018 and has received teaching recognition awards every year he has taught at Maryland. He also received the highest-level teaching recognition award as an adjunct faculty member at University of Maryland, University College, where he taught prior to joining Maryland’s adjunct faculty.
