Posters filled the halls of the Smith School atrium on February 16, 2017, as more than 140 undergraduate students gathered to showcase their global learning. Student participants recently returned from five faculty-led, short-term study abroad programs that traveled over winter break to the following locations: Australia and New Zealand; Dubai and Hong Kong; Japan; South Africa; and London, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
In preparation for the annual Smith Start Networking Day (Feb. 24), the Smith freshman class of 2020 attended a “crash course” in the how-tos of networking during a training day on Feb. 21. The goal of the session was to prepare freshman for their first real steps into the world of professional relationship building.
This year the Office of Career Services and the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business decided to turn the tables on students and recruiters as part of the spring Undergraduate Career Fair. For the first time, Smith held the Reverse Career Fair student leadership networking event the evening of Feb. 9, allowing employers the opportunity to stroll through a room of student leaders from 25 student organizations.
On Feb. 3, 2017, the Quality Enhancement Systems and Teams (QUEST) honors program corporate student committee organized a trek to Under Armour’s headquarters and new lighthouse facility in Baltimore, Md.
