Bloomberg Invites Smith Input for “#WhyMBA” campaign – A Prelude to MBA Rankings Unveiling

Duke is way ahead of us in the #WhyMBA contest right now. Even though we aren't in the ACC anymore, let's still beat Duke! Tweet @SmithSchool #WhyMBA and tell us why you are proud of the Smith School.

Bloomberg Businessweek’s full-time MBA program rankings will be announced on Tuesday, November 11, and Smith, among other business schools and their students have a new way to join the conversation.

Starting Tuesday, Oct. 14, Bloomberg is launching the #WhyMBA project, a website and social media campaign anchored by the hashtag #WhyMBA.

MBAs, faculty, the business school community—and anyone with an opinion—can engage in a real-time discussion about what it means to get an MBA education.

Every day, Bloomberg will post questions on Twitter such as "What distinguishes your b-school from the rest?" and "What was the most important lesson you learned in business school?," and ask the Twitter community to respond using #WhyMBA and your school's handle.

The Bloomberg specially-dedicated website features the Tweets and responses –  at businessweek.com/interactive/whymba. A live leaderboard reveals which schools are getting the most mentions on Twitter. More Tweets will boost your school's standing on the site--and of course, confer priceless bragging rights.

Says Bloomberg: “It's a great way for your community to tell the world, in its own words, what's unique about your school, regardless of its Bloomberg Businessweek ranking.”

Bloomberg encourages students, alumni, allies, and school social media team to get involved and help your school get noticed. Here are ways to join in:

  • Follow @BW and @BWbschools from your official school accounts, and watch for Tweets featuring the hashtag #WhyMBA starting Tuesday, 10/14.
  • Retweet interesting questions from our handles to your followers.
  • Respond to Twitter questions and highlight Smith's unique attributes.
  • Check out businessweek.com/interactive/whymba and watch the results unfold.
