Smith Consulting Panel Lauded by MBA Students

The Office of Career Services spearheaded a hugely successful Consulting Panel on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010. Carolyn Eichler, MBA ’90 – partner at Computer Sciences Corporation; Mark Horn – principal at Deloitte Consulting; Landon Johnson, MBA ’99 –president of Talant; and Kurt Reisenberg – executive director at Corporate Executive Board – offered candid insight into the consulting industry. The highly interactive event afforded Smith students the opportunity to learn more about the consulting industry, and better informed their decision-making relative to post-MBA career paths. Students showcased their polish and professionalism, and demonstrated just how well-versed they are with regard to the consulting industry, with thought-provoking, relevant questions. Panelists delivered at every turn with detailed, real-world experiences peppered with humor and honesty.

Following a very rich exchange, panelists and students engaged in a lunch-time networking session to further explore opportunities within the industry and build the bridge between “students seeking” and gainful post-MBA employment.

First-year MBA student Kevin Herke commented, “This event was insightful, relevant and timely. It proved to be a wonderful opportunity to get a real picture of the consulting industry from multiple practitioners! Many thanks to Career Services for arranging it.” In total, 35 students participated in this well-received event. Due to phenomenal student interest and the success of the consulting panel, similar MBA career programming events will be scheduled across all industry areas.

Newly retained Smith Office of Career Services Expert Industry Advisors Sharon Rogers Johnson and Andrea Morris were instrumental in the success of this event.
