Forty-five second-year MBA students at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business traveled to Maple Tree Campground in Rohrersville, Md., for a weekend of camping and team-building activities, Sept. 6-8, 2013.

The students were joined by Smith faculty members Shreevardhan Lele, assistant dean of academic affairs for MBA programs and Ralph J. Tyser Distinguished Teaching Fellow of Business Administration, and Oliver Schlake, Distinguished Tyser Teaching Fellow.

Last spring, we got on board with the University of Maryland’s “Innovation Fridays,” introducing weekly coverage to highlight some of the exciting happenings around innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. This fall, we continue that semester-long commitment.

This summer 105 students traveled to Brazil, China, Germany, Italy, and Spain for short-term abroad courses offered by the Smith School’s Office of Global Initiatives. More than 80 graduate students participated in three courses while 19 undergraduates traveled to Germany and Italy for a course on entrepreneurship.

Smith’s Office of Global Initiatives hosted 75 Chinese MBA students from Peking University’s Guanghua School of Management in Beijing – one of China’s premiere business schools – for two weeks last month in College Park. The students, most of whom had never been to the United States, traveled to Maryland to experience business education in an American setting.

The Robert H. Smith School of Business’s Center for Complexity in Business held its second-annual Digital Marketing Analytics Roundtable Aug. 1, 2013 at the Smith Suite in the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C. The roundtable was held in collaboration with Teradata. Smith marketing faculty members Bill Rand, the director of CCB, and Roland Rust, the executive director of CCB, led the event.
