College Park, MD - October 9, 1998 - The Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park, is ranked 22nd nationwide, according to the 1998 Business Week magazine survey. The magazine released the results yesterday evening.

Smith Construction, Inc., in Arlington, VA, has committed $15 million to the University of Maryland Business School, the business school's largest private gift ever. In recognition and appreciation of this gift of endowment, the Maryland Business School has been named the Robert H. Smith School of Business.
College Park, MD - March 20, 1998 - Sabrina L. White has joined the University of Maryland Business School as director of MBA and MS admissions. White is the former director of graduate studies in business for Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
College Park, MD - January 14, 1998 - William E. and Kathy Mayer have committed $1.5 million to the Dean's Fund for Excellence at the University of Maryland Business School. William Mayer served as dean of the business school for four years, from 1992 to 1996. He received both his undergraduate (1966) and MBA (1967) degrees from the school.
