Hongyi Zhang has been serving in the Smith School of Business for over twenty years with roles as a teaching faculty and the Department Technology Officer in the LBPP department. She holds a master degree in Information System and Software Engineering from George Mason University. She is also certified with a series of professional certifications such as Oracle Database Administrator, Oracle E-Business Suite System Administration, Oracle Inventory Management & Optimization, and SAP Application Associate in Business Process Integration.

Hongyi teaches courses in both undergraduate and graduate levels. She believes that a “learn by doing” approach is optimal for student education. The integration of technologies, such as SAP Enterprise Resource Management Applications and Resilinc Software in Supply Chain Risk Management, with her course curriculums provides students with real world industrial experience. The courses she teaches include BMGT476, BULM731, BLUM758C, and BUSO751. She was recognized with the Distinguished Teaching Award for the academic year of 2014~2015.

Hongyi’s industrial experience includes software development and database administration for applications in inventory management, sales, billing, and customer relations.
