The Fannie Lou Hamer Story

Join Nyumburu for an entertaining, educational play that addresses the struggle for human dignity and freedom. Fannie Lou Hamer was a pioneering social justice advocate and civil rights activist who fought against voter suppression and legal inequalities, attempting to bring hundreds of college students, Black and White, to help with African American voter registration in the segregated South. She exemplified the courage of an activist and community organizer, who challenged the American power structure and police authorities who violated her rights as an American citizen.

Her famous statement, "Sick and tired of being sick and tired," has motivated many activists and advocates for justice. Actress and artist Mzuri Moyo Aimbaye captures the living spirit and legacy of Fannie Lou Hamer. The production is FREE and all are welcome!
