Join the Counseling Center and other campus partners for a week of fun, engaging programming to improve your mental health!

The University’s COVID-19 safety guidelines will be followed at each of these events.

Monday: NURTURE WITH NATURE

Walking Meditation

Memorial Chapel Labyrinth

Join the Health Center, Counseling Center, and Memorial Chapel for a chance to relax and connect with nature. We’ll gather at the Garden of Reflection and Remembrance at the Memorial Chapel for a guided meditation, mindful labyrinth walk, and a free lunch. Planting Healthy Roots: A Plant-Decorating Mental Health Event

Did you know that caring for a plant is good for your mental health? Join the UMD Mental Health Coalition in this plant decorating event--you even get to take home your own potted succulent! Grab a friend, grab a plant, and come have some fun!

Wednesday: BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS

Community Canvas: Painting to Heal from Injustice

The Counseling Center and Studio A invite our marginalized students to come together in community to create and cope. You'll find collective healing through painting two pieces of your own, one to keep and one as part of a mural showcased on campus. This event is free and all supplies will be provided. RSVP is required and space is limited. *Please note that this is a space dedicated for underrepresented students on campus. » Register for Event

Thursday: STAMP OUT STIGMA

Depression Screenings

Stamp Student Involvement Suite (SORC)

Depression is one of the most common mental health concerns, so let’s learn the signs to help prevent and treat it. Take a brief depression assessment and talk privately with a counselor about the results. Stop by to learn more about your mental health, find ways to help a friend, or get some information about the Counseling Center.

Movies for Mental Health

Lean on Me and the Counseling Center are bringing Movies for Mental Health to the UMD campus! This free virtual event will start with a screening of award-winning short films focused on mental health, followed by a panel-led discussion about these films and the resources available to assist and empower UMD students to seek mental wellness. » Register for Event

Friday: SELF-CARE CELEBRATION

Terps Take Care Fair
Friday 10/8
Noon to 3 p.m.
McKeldin Mall

Join the Counseling Center and Resident Life for the annual Terps Take Care fair, a super fun mental health fair to start your weekend of self-care off right! We’ll have therapy dogs, free food, games, carnival activities, prizes, and more!

Mindful Yoga on the Mall
Friday 10/8
3 to 4 p.m.
McKeldin Mall

After checking out the Terps Take Care fair, join the Counseling Center and RecWell for a mindful yoga practice outdoors on the mall to relax and get grounded as we head into the weekend. Please bring your own mat or towel. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled.
