Our summer reading list is always the most visited article each year. Thousands read and shared the 2017 list, which was the 14th annual top 10 compilation of its kind.
2. Faculty Commentary on Seven Ways You Might Actually Trigger an IRS Audit – Feb. 1, 2017
Our weekly e-newsletter, Smith Brain Trust, has a distribution of about 45,000. This story on IRS audits with commentary from Smith School lecturer Samuel Handwerger was the most visited thought leadership article in 2017.
3. Forbes 30 Under 30 Honors Two Smith Alumni – Jan. 9. 2017
Hungry Harvest cofounder and "Shark Tank" dealmaker Evan Lutz '14 was on Forbes' social entrepreneurs list. Starwood Capital Group vice president Akshay Goyal '10 appeared on the finance list.
4. Faculty Commentary on the U.S., North Korea and Game Theory – May 2, 2017
This very popular Smith Brain Trust story includes commentary from Professor Charles Olson about the ramped-up diplomatic and military pressure on North Korea, which he describes as an exercise in game theory.
5. Winners Announced in Smith Photo Contest – Feb. 6, 2017
In our third photo contest, 20 photographs were selected to be put on display in Van Munching Hall and in Smith Business magazine. Alumni, students, faculty, and staff submitted more than 250 photos in six categories: action, architectural, campus, global, landscape, and portrait.
6. Federal Workers and Spouses Get Tuition Discount – March 14, 2017
Our most popular news announcement in 2017 was that federal employees and their spouses are eligible for a 30 percent tuition discount when they qualify for select graduate programs (MBA – online, executive, part-time – and specialty masters) through a FedGrant agreement with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
7. Smith Welcomes New Faculty – Aug. 28, 2017
The Smith School welcomed 18 new full-time faculty members for the 2017-18 academic year. Smith's intellectual capital is regularly ranked among the top 25 business schools in the world.
