The Credibility Factor: Enhancing Your Leadership Credibility

The Center for Leadership, Innovation, and Change at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business hosted a workshop featuring Janet Ioli, Lead Executive Coach for Northrup Grumman and President of The Mana Group for a workshop focused on building credibility as a leader. Ioli has over 25 years of experience as an executive coach and organizational development consultant for Fortune 200 companies and is author of “The Cure: Remedies for the 5 Ailments that Plague Organizations.”

The workshop focused on the “5 Cs” of Leadership Credibility: credo, competence, confidence, connection, and continuous learning. During the workshop, Ioli helped participants think about ways to develop their personal credo in order to shape their leadership brand. Credos were developed by asking participants about their beliefs and how they guide leaders’ daily lives.

Ioli also gave tangible action steps for building confidence by thinking about past experiences, observing role models, and building social support systems for encouragement. All action items were tied back to the central theme of enhancing credibility as a leader.
