Ritu Agarwal, Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Research at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, has received a Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. The award represents the institution's highest honor to alumni who have achieved exemplary success in their respective fields.
Others receiving the award alongside Agarwal include Ajay Bisaria, Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, and Saurabh Agrawal, the group chief financial officer of Tata Sons. The presentations were part of IIM Calcutta's 58th Foundation Day at the institute's campus in Joka, Kolkata on Nov. 14.
Agarwal has published more than 100 articles in journals such as Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Management Science, Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, Health Affairs, and has made presentations at many national and international conferences. Her current research is focused on the use of IT in healthcare settings, health analytics, and artificial intelligence applications in health.
