College Park, Md. – August 20, 2009 — The undergraduate program at the University of Maryland’sRobert H. Smith School of Business is ranked No. 16 in the nation, according to the latest U.S.News & World Report college ranking report, “America’s Best Colleges 2010,” released today. The Smith School also ranked highly in a number of business specialty categories — with its Management Information Systems and Supply Chain Management programs listed among the nation’s top 10 and a total of six areas listed among the nation’s top 20. The Smith School’s specialty rankings include:

No. 15 – Management
No. 17 – Finance

The U.S. News rankings report is based on surveyed deans and senior faculty at undergraduate business programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Deans and faculty were surveyed in spring 2009. Participants were asked to rate the quality of all programs they are familiar with on a scale of 1 (marginal) to 5 (distinguished). The rankings are based solely on this survey; 42 percent of those surveyed responded. The complete rankings can be found online.
