The Quality Enhancement Systems and Teams (QUEST) Honors Program at the University of Maryland is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year with a celebration on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at The Hotel, a new luxury hotel and conference center at UMD. Undergraduate students from the Robert H. Smith School of Business, A. James Clark School of Engineering and the College of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences are eligible to apply for QUEST.
“It is exciting to see this program, which began nearly 25 years ago, continue to grow and improve in providing an excellent learning experience for students while helping bring the principles of quality and innovation to companies in Maryland and beyond,” said deans from the three schools in the latest QUEST annual report. “We are proud of our students and constantly impressed by their accomplishments. The QUEST Honors Program is the result of our best and brightest students working together to learn about innovation, quality management, process improvement, and system design.”
The QUEST program has more than 1,000 alumni scattered all around the world and almost all of them maintain strong connections with the program. Alumni engage in guest lectures, host QUEST students on trips, participate in the Alumni Advantage mentoring program, assist with QUEST interviews, sponsor course projects, and attend various community events during the year.
Leading up to the anniversary celebration, QUEST is posting feedback from alumni on social media. Jeff Hilnbrand ’16, a Cohort 20 alumnus, is a product designer at Facebook Menlo Park, Calif. "I really enjoyed QUEST and still think it's the best academic program on campus,” said Hilnbrand. “I find myself referencing different tools learned years ago in my design work today."
