The newest U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings for undergraduate programs are out, with the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business No. 13 among U.S. business schools at public institutions.

"The rankings reflect the outstanding student profile, thought leadership, experiential learning, career outcomes, and reputation of the school. But we won't rest on our laurels. Looking forward, we have a bold new strategic plan that will further bring exceptional value to our students and stakeholders.”
Smith, ranked 23rd overall, also has five specialties in the top 25 among publics with four of those in the top 25 overall:
- Management: No. 24 overall, No. 16 among publics
- Management Information Systems: No. 8 overall, No. 6 among publics
- Marketing: No. 17 overall, No. 12 among publics
- Supply chain management/logistics: No. 18 overall, No. 15 among publics
- Accounting: No. 50 overall, No. 22 among publics

More broadly, UMD climbed a spot to No. 19 among the nation’s top public schools and is No. 55 among all U.S. universities.
The rankings, which many prospective students rely on to narrow their college searches, are based on factors including graduation and retention rates, social mobility, faculty and financial resources, and alumni giving rate.
