Smith Full-Time MBA Graduates Celebrate 100 Percent Job Placement Rate for Domestic Students
Smith’s Full-time MBA graduates are thriving, with 100% of domestic students landing jobs across industries like IT, finance, and consulting at top firms. The STEM-designated program blends leadership, tech, and AI, while the Office of Career Services provides personalized support for career success.

The most recent graduates of the Full-time MBA program at the Robert H. Smith School of Business are off to a phenomenal start as 100 percent of domestic students have secured full-time jobs after graduation. These new careers span industries and include IT, finance, consulting and health tech with such renowned companies as Wells Fargo, Deloitte, Amazon and Medtronic, Inc.

The Smith School’s STEM-designated MBA curriculum is a meticulously crafted balance of real-world experience, leadership, cutting-edge technology and research infused with highly topical subject areas. AI and machine learning is taught in many courses to help students learn to lead in a world filled with technological change, global realignment, changing consumer behavior, and fluctuating foreign exchange currencies.

Michael Wilgus, MBA ’24, a newly minted investment banker with Wells Fargo, had high praise for the Smith School, and particularly, its Office of Career Services (“OCS”). “The OCS helped me early in my MBA career search by facilitating connections with active investment bankers, helping me refine my story and interview responses, and polishing my resume,” Wilgus said. “They also helped me navigate a situation where I found myself with competing internship offers. It was a valuable part of my MBA experience and I encourage current students to make full use of that resource while they are at Maryland.”

During their time at Smith, students find a robust support structure at the Office of Career Services. These can include one-on-one career coaching, customized interview preparation, résumé reviews, and connections with hundreds of local, national, and global companies. Additionally, the broader Terp alumni community is committed to supporting current students through engagement opportunities like coffee chats, employer mock interviews, and hosting students for workplace treks.

Kerry Kidwell-Slak, senior director of graduate career coaching, says the Smith OCS strives to understand each student's individual career goals and work alongside them to craft a job search strategy that leverages their experience, skills, and interests. “Ultimately,” says Kidwell-Slak, “our goal is for every graduate to secure a meaningful role post-graduation and our coaching-first strategy is key to helping them achieve that success."
