Smith Global Learning: European Executive MBA Participants Explore a Living Case in China

Participants in Smiths the Smith-GSBA Global Executive MBA Program recently had an opportunity to bring classroom lessons on global business and cross cultural management to life with a module in Beijing, China, December 11-22, 2006. The business managers from Europe were in Beijing to participate in a living case study presented by Otis Elevator executives. For the majority, it was their first trip to China.

I am happy you are here. Not only (because) you will realize this concept of a global degree but that you are preliminary students doing that, said Dr. Albert Stahli, dean of the Graduate School of Business Administration (GSBA) Zrich, who was on hand to welcome the participants to Smiths partner campus at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE).

Smith School adjunct faculty member, Ian Williamson, led the module and pointed out the rich opportunities for hands-on global business experience saying, We have Swiss-German students dealing with an American company that does work in China with Chinese employees."

In 2005, the Smith School partnered with GSBA to deliver the Global Executive MBA Program, which enables participants to take classes in Zrich, where GSBA is located, as well as in China and College Park, Md. The GSBA students have participated in living case programs in College Park for the last two years.
