Smith Launches Undergraduate Minors

The Smith School is introducing a set of 15-credit minors to equip University of Maryland students with business skills and entrepreneurial savvy.

General business and a second minor, innovation and entrepreneurship, will open in fall 2015 for up to 180 UMD undergraduates in each program, complementing a recently launched business analytics minor.

“Students in any major can learn sound business principles and enhance their productivity and marketability,” says Robert Tronetti, Smith’s director of undergraduate minors. “They also can better prepare themselves to capitalize on innovative and entrepreneurial opportunities, whether they’re artists or biomedical scientists.”

Blended (face-to-face and online) course delivery will enhance flexibility and set Smith apart from many other schools, which only offer online business minors, says Tronetti, who is working with management professor Protiti Dastidar, the curriculum director.
