The University of Maryland (UMD) is being recognized as the top producer of bachelor’s degrees in computer and information sciences and support services for a non-online university (No. 3 overall), according to a new report from The Chronicle of Higher Education. The Robert H. Smith School of Business information systems program (IS), along with UMD’s College of Computer, Mathematical & Natural Sciences computer science program and the College of Information’s program for information science, were included in the data that looked at degrees conferred by colleges from 2018-2022.
Smith’s IS major prepares students to effectively plan, use and manage information technologies and systems by focusing on system design and implementation skills, including database and web design. The program was recently ranked No. 6 in the country by the U.S. News and World Report Undergraduate Business Program Ranking (and the school is No. 11 among publics). Additionally, Smith programs have also received high marks, with supply chain at No. 14, management at No. 20, entrepreneurship at No. 21 and finance at No. 13 among public institutions.
U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 Best Graduate Schools also ranked Smith at No. 9 for “Information Systems MBA Programs.”
