Smith School Community Mourns Loss of Board Member Mike Corvino

Mike Corvino

The University of Maryland community is mourning the loss of Mike Corvino, president of JanSport and a valued member of the Board of Visitors at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. Corvino was killed in a car accident on Saturday, July 14, 2007. As a board member, Corvino was very involved and enthusiastic about his consultative role with the school. Most recently, he helped bring JanSport's founder, Skip Yowell, to the Smith CEO Entrepreneurship Conference, which was held in April. In May 2006, before a Board of Visitors meeting, he talked with Smith Business magazine and took time to show off some of JanSport's latest technology to Smith School students. Corvino, an avid Terps fan, played football for the University of Maryland from 1979 to 1982. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Mike Corvino during this difficult time.
