Smith School Earns No. 17 U.S. Spot in 2024 Financial Times EMBA Ranking

The Financial Times has ranked the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business Executive MBA program No. 17 in the U.S. and second in the D.C. area. This marks its fifth consecutive top-20 appearance, highlighting the program's excellence in executive education.

A new Financial Times ranking has rated the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business Executive MBA program No. 17 among U.S.-only programs, and the second highest-ranked EMBA program in the greater Metropolitan D.C. region. The 24th edition of this annual ranking sees the Smith School’s fifth consecutive appearance in the top 20 U.S. programs since 2020.

The Smith School offers a range of MBA options tailored to the needs of working professionals, including its highly regarded Online MBA, ranked No. 11 in U.S. News and World Report’s Best Online MBA Programs for 2024.

This latest ranking follows Smith’s Flex MBA, which was ranked No. 10 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 Best Graduate Schools ranking for part-time programs in April.

According to the Financial Times, 128 programs participated in this year’s ranking, with data collected from online alumni surveys. Ranking criteria included current salary and salary increases, career progress, work experience, aims achieved and a new alumni network category.

The ranking further solidifies the Smith School’s reputation as a premier steward of executive education. Additionally, it reflects the school’s commitment to enabling high-potential and accomplished executives to continue their trajectory toward significant leadership and C-suite roles.

Each of the Smith School’s MBA programs exemplifies its strength in delivering rigorous, career-enhancing education while accommodating working professionals' schedules.

The 15-month, STEM-designated EMBA program is designed to help executives develop sharp business acumen, strategic decision-making and the ability to leverage emerging technology in the context of emerging and modern business challenges.

Smith’s Executive MBA is also the only program in its region that takes a holistic approach to all three criteria for executive positions: personal actions, team functions and business, strategic and financial acumen.

The Smith School is currently accepting applications for the upcoming January 2025 EMBA cohort through November 15.
