Smith School students in the Maryland Undergraduate Society of Entrepreneurs (MUSE) are excited to launch a new club-run venture called "Terrapin Clothiers." The service will provide University of Maryland students with the opportunity to purchase leading professional brand suits and business accessories at introductory prices. "Through our partnership with Kendrick's, students can take advantage of special discounted pricing on all of our product lines," says Nick Singer, MUSE's vice president of operations.
Terrapin Clothiers offers attire for men and accessories for both men and women. "It is one of our goals for next fall to expand our line to include women's clothing," says Singer. Current discounted labels include Jos. A Bank, Semanco Custom Made Suits, Tumi Luggage, and Allen-Edmonds Shoes & Accessories. Discounts range from 20-30 percent off of retail prices.
On Thursday, April 26, 2007 Terrapin Clothiers will be in Van Munching Hall taking orders and measuring for custom-made suits in suite 3570 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Appointments are suggested, but not required. For more information, e-mail events@terrapinclothiers.com.
Ori Zohar, a founder of MUSE in 2004, says, "MUSE is aimed to give students an opportunity to develop and start, run and expand their own businesses. We expect to have at least five club-run ventures in the next few years. Another successful venture already in place is Maryland Cap & Gown, where we purchase used caps and gowns after graduation and resell them during the following semester." (Sorry, May grads, they are all sold out! But look for them right after the graduation ceremony to sell back your cap and gown for $20.)
