The Smith School team made it to the final round of the First Annual National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA) Case Competition. Team "The Smiths," consisting of second-year MBA students Liz Slobasky, Anne Zeeman and Lyubov Luzhanova and first-years Kristi Zobel and Varongnard Trongkongsin, will be presenting their solution to the case during the final round of competition; which will be held in Van Munching Hall on Nov. 3, 3:30-6:30 p.m., as part of the National Association of Women MBAs Conference, which is being hosted by the Robert H. Smith School of Business, Nov. 2-3, 2007.

The case competition, organized by Thunderbird School of Global Management, is sponsored by Hilti, world leader in developing, manufacturing and marketing top-quality products for professionals in the construction industry and in building maintenance. The competition started with 35 teams and was narrowed to 12 teams after the first round of judging, and only six teams made it to the finals. The other teams competing in the final round include two teams from Georgia Tech, and teams from Georgetown, Rice University and University of Texas, Dallas. Each team had two weeks to come up with their solution to the case which was written by Hilti and was based on their HR practices.

The team will be competing for a first prize of $5,000, second prize of $3,000 and third prize of $2,000. If you see these ladies in the hall congratulate them on their hard work, or better yet, come to the finals and cheer them on at this year's National Women MBAs Conference, which is packed with programming that will help inspire women to Take the Lead through globalization, entrepreneurship and technology. The conference features a career fair, panels, workshops, and networking events that are all designed to advance women in their professional lives.
