Michael Barbalace represents the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business in Poets & Quants’ newly published Best & Brightest Online MBAs: Class Of 2024.
Barbalace, account director and transaction manager for commercial real estate services firm Savills, Inc., is among 54 online MBA graduates selected and featured from the world’s top-ranked online MBA programs.
They, according to P&Q, “were nominated by students and faculty based on criteria like academic excellence and class contributions, always going back to this question: ‘Which students are so fundamental that you can’t imagine the class without them?’”
Barbalace told P&Q his online education experience “helped tremendously” in his current job. “I work in a remote setting and most of my meetings are virtual,” he said. “The OMBA program at Smith has helped further develop my business acumen and given me the confidence to effectively manage teams, communicate with confidence in person and virtually, and excel in leadership positions.”
A Smith finance and operations management degree holder, Barbalace said he opted to remain with the school for its OMBA program because it’s “highly reputable and consistently ranked a top-tier online MBA program.”
He added: “I was blown away by the programs, resources, faculty and staff, and opportunities that Smith had to offer during undergrad. It was a no-brainer to continue my education in business at Smith.”
