College Park, Md. August 22, 2005 - The undergraduate program at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business is ranked among the best in the nation with the school listed in the U.S. top 20 for seven business specialty categories according to the latest U.S.News & World Report college ranking report released on August 19, 2005. The magazines America's Best Colleges 2006 Edition ranks the Smith Schools undergraduate program as the No. 22 program in the United States and as a leader in several business specialties including:
- No. 6 Management Information Systems
- No. 8 Supply Chain Management/Logistics
- No. 9 Management
- No. 13 Entrepreneurship
- No. 13 Quantitative Analysis
- No. 16 Production/Operations Management
- No. 18 Marketing
- No. 22 Finance
The U.S. News rankings report is based on surveyed deans and senior faculty at undergraduate business programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Deans and faculty were surveyed in spring 2005. Participants were asked to rate the quality of all programs they are familiar with on a scale of 1 (marginal) to 5 (distinguished). The rankings are based solely on this survey; 45 percent of those surveyed responded.
