Mark Wellman Receives CIBER Award for Teaching Innovation in Global Learning

The Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is pleased to announce that Mark Wellman, clinical professor of management and organization, is the recipient of the inaugural CIBER Award for Teaching Innovation in Global Learning. The award aims to recognize a Smith faculty member who has demonstrated a commitment to teaching for a global mindset, meaning an openness to and awareness of diversity across cultures and markets.

Maryland Commerce, UMD Launch Consulting Program

BALTIMORE (May 12, 2016) – The Maryland Department of Commerce and University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business have launched the Maryland Global Consulting Program to provide global consulting expertise to small Maryland companies.

Mark Wellman Receives “The Face of Their Field” Award

Mark Wellman, clinical professor and director of the College Park Scholars Business, Society & Economy (BSE) program, was presented with the “The Face of Their Field” Award at the Sixth Annual Faculty/Staff Appreciation ceremony organized by students and staff in the College Park Scholars community held on Friday, April 29, 2016. Wellman, has been the director of the Business, Society and the Economy (BSE) program for the past nine years.

Smith Hosts Tata Innovation Dialogue

The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and the Tata Group of Companies hosted the Tata Dialogue on Innovation luncheon on April 1, 2016, at the College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. The featured speaker was Shankar Venkateswaran, chief of Tata Sustainability Group, who discussed the challenges of taking sustainability from policy to practice.

Smith MBAs Win Emerging Markets Case Competition

The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business hosted the Second Annual Emerging Markets Case Competition, April 1-2, 2016. Through two rounds of presentations and Q&A, the team from the Smith School emerged victorious capturing the event’s $2,500 first prize. The runner-up prize of $1,500 went to the University of Washington, Foster School of Business.
