The University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business is excited to announce some faculty-favorite books in the "12th Annual Top-10 Summer Reading List for Business Leaders" for 2015, as recommended by members of its faculty and administrators. If you're heading off to business school as an undergrad/MBA or you are already climbing up the corporate ladder, these books will keep you up-to-date on current trends.

Businesswomen need to speak up and ask for more, two experts from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business said June 20, 2015, at the Forté MBA Women’s Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. “It only takes two seconds to ask,” said Elana Fine, director of the Smith School’s Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship. “Sometimes people are so scared that the answer is ‘no,’ but really the worst thing that can happen is the answer is ‘no.’”

This summer, the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is catching up with MBA students working as interns at top companies throughout the country. Listen to the students talk about how their internship experiences are helping them build their skills and make professional connections in The Smith Report, a shortpodcast produced by the Office of Marketing Communications. 

On Saturday, June 6, 2015, alumni of the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business enjoyed an exclusive evening event at the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore, Md. Alumni and their families were able to experience interactive stations without the typical crowds during normal operating hours. Attendees visited the many exhibits the Maryland Science Center has to offer, such as Dinosaur Mysteries, Newton’s Alley, Life Beyond Earth, and Power Up. Three planetarium shows were also shown focusing on space. Special thanks go out to the event host committee:

Cybersecurity analytics was the theme of the Fifth Annual Business Analytics Workshop, held in College Park, Md., on Monday, May 18, 2015. Co-sponsored by the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and IBM, the day-long workshop consisted of topics ranging from calculating cybersecurity investments to applying machine learning to cyber defense. The workshop provided ample time for questions from the audience and speakers delivered real-time solutions to some of the attendees.

Smith School of Business on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the Xfinity Center in College Park, Md. The campus-wide ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. (Tickets are required for the main campus ceremony.) Smith’s undergraduate ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m. and the graduate ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. (No tickets are required for the Smith School ceremonies.)
