New Smith MBAs Compete in Live Case Competition

Is it better for PepsiCo to dress up “Naked” or square a circle? The MBA Class of 2018 at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business got their first taste of corporate consulting, data analysis and the whirlwind pace of business school life during the MBA Orientation Live Case Competition on Friday, August 19, 2016.

“Dream, Girl” Film Screening

The Office of Diversity Initiatives at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is excited to kick off the 2016-17 school year with a screening of the film Dream, Girl, a documentary that showcases inspiring success stories of female entrepreneurs. Join the women of Smith for the screening and post-screening discussion reception. Dream big with us on Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. We know the names of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg. But what about the female entrepreneurs? What’s their story?

Congratulations to Smith EMBA Cohort 15!

Graduation day was July 23, 2016, for 43 executives at the Riggs Alumni Center, supported by more than 300 friends, family, faculty, and staff. Dean Alex Triantis congratulated the graduates on completing the rigorous 19-month journey, culminating with a celebration of the fifteenth Executive MBA cohort at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.

Smith’s Got Talent – MBA Style

On May 6, 2016, full-time MBA students at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business hosted the sixth annual “Smith’s Got Talent” variety show. Over the years, the show has become a highlight of the spring semester for Smith Terps. Some years there is more talent than others, but everyone always has a great time. The event perfectly showcases the tight-knit community of Smith MBA students at UMD.

Congrats to UMD Smith Class of 2016!

On May 20, 2016, 1,200 students graduated from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business with bachelors’, masters’ and doctoral degrees. The commencement ceremonies were held at the Xfinity Center on the university’s College Park campus. Graduate Ceremony At the graduate ceremony, Tiffany Watson performed the National Anthem and Scott Graham delivered the student address.

Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship Launches Startup Podcast

The Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business has launched a startup podcast called Bootstrapped. The podcast features founders, investors and serial entrepreneurs from the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia startup scene. While the podcast covers many aspects of startup life, the heart of the show focuses on funding from both the founder and investor perspectives, thus the name, Bootstrapped.
