Elsa Barkley Brown, Associate Professor of History and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, discusses her ongoing research into the history of Black women at the University of Maryland. Drawing on archival research as well as student-conducted oral histories, Barkley Brown points toward a fuller history of the University by moving beyond recognizing firsts to consider Black women’s daily lives on campus.
