Roughly 160 high school students from all over the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area came to Van Munching Hall for the Future Women in Business Conference on Nov. 17, 2023. The annual event has been bringing future and current female business leaders together at Smith for a day of empowerment for the past decade.

Local High Schoolers Attend Future Women in Business Conference
Women currently fill less than 17 percent of executive roles -- a number the Smith School is looking to change, starting with young women in high school. On Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, the Office of Undergraduate Programs and Smith School Women’s Society at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business hosted the Second Annual Future Women in Business Conference.
Local High School Girls Attend Future Women in Business Conference
The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business welcomed 100 young women from nearby high schools in Prince George’s, Montgomery and Howard Counties to the Future Women in Business Conference on October 19, 2013. Hosted by the Smith School Women’s Society and sponsored by PwC, this conference encouraged high school girls to explore an undergraduate degree and future career in business. Guests heard from keynote speaker Melanie Thomas Armstrong, a partner in PwC's Public Sector Practice (PSP), and were encouraged to “Seize Your Future!”
