Smith School of Business will host the UMD Entrepreneurship Invitational, featuring the Seventh Annual Cupid’s Cup business competition, on Friday, March 30, at its College Park campus.

Smith Undergrad Team Places Second in The Marketing Summit

A team of undergraduate students from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business competed with teams from around the country at the 22nd Annual Marketing Summit presented by Wake Forest University in February 2012, ultimately placing second and winning a cash prize of $3,000. Prannoy Nambiar is a Smith School senior and one part of the four-person team that competed this year. He says case competitions complement classroom learning.

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The end of 2011 marked the close of an active year for the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and its Dingman Center Angels investor network. In the past year, members invested in eight regional companies, making 2011 the network’s most active year since its founding in 2004. Investments included Brazen Careerist, CirrusWorks, Nexercise, SevaCall, Spinnakr, Spotflux, Veenome, and YouEye.

Beijing, China - January 5, 2012 — The University of Maryland’s Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the Robert H. Smith School of Business awarded $10,000 to winners of the 2012 China Business Plan Competition, in partnership with the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University in Beijing. The January 5 contest to present the best business plan pitch also included Chinese teams from Tianjin and Zhejiang Universities and Smith’s Israel partner school, the Technion—Israeli Institute of Technology.
