Smith Grad Encourages Students to Beat the Odds in Graduation Remarks

Jeffanie Rantung-Kramar, ’20, says blackjack taught her a great deal about overcoming adversity. Rantung-Kramar recently delivered the graduation keynote for the 2020 CollegeTracks virtual commencement. CollegeTracks is a youth advocacy program in Montgomery County, MD., that seeks to help first-generation college students manage the challenges of higher education.

Leadership starts with understanding people, keynote speaker Dana Ritzcovan ’93 told graduates on May 19, 2018, at the undergraduate commencement celebration for the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. “We hire employees at organizations, yet human beings show up instead,” said Ritzcovan, group managing director and head of human resources for Global Wealth Management at UBS, a global financial services company.

Join the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, at 9 a.m. as we celebrate the accomplishments of business graduates at the Xfinity Center in College Park, Md. For winter commencement, tickets are not required for the Smith School ceremony or the campus-wide ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 19. EMBA Cohort 16 Crosses the Stage

July 29, 2017 - The sun peeked out of the clouds, heralding the end of a long, heavy rain just as Executive MBA graduates from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business marked the culmination of a challenging, transformative journey. During his commencement address, Associate Dean Mike Faulkender pointed out what an enriching experience this was, not only for the EMBA graduates, but for faculty as well.
