The Robert H. Smith School of Business has a stake in the University of Maryland mission targeted by the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) recent $5 million grant to enhance educational opportunities related to UMD’s Honors College's Advanced Cybersecurity Experience for Students (ACES) program.

The Center for Global Business (CGB) at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business awarded Andrea Foster, chair of Business, Economics, Accounting, Computer Applications, and Paralegal Studies at Montgomery College, with the opportunity to attend a Faculty Development in International Business (FDIB) program to China in May 2017.

Researchers and senior executives from the private sector, government agencies and academia will gather to explore policy-based solutions to information security breaches in the 14th annual Forum on Financial Information Systems and Cybersecurity: A Public Policy Perspective. The daylong event takes place Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 in Van Munching Hall at the University of Maryland.

Representing the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, strategy experts Anil K. Gupta and Haiyan Wang are 28th in the 2017 Thinkers50 ranking of the “world’s most influential living management thinkers.”

The Robert H. Smith School of Business co-hosted the 2017 Global Business School Network (GBSN) Annual Conference in Washington, D.C., November 1-3. The conference kicked off with a members’ meeting featuring 60 business school leaders from 42 different schools and 27 countries in Van Munching Hall. American University’s Kogod School of Business and George Washington University’s School of Business also hosted the conference.

The Center for Health Information and Decision Systems (CHIDS) at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business will collaborate with Inovalon to expand applications of machine learning and neural network solutions within the predictive analytic components of the Inovalon ONE™ Platform.

In spring 2017, dozens of Finance Fellows tackled a case entitled “INFINITI HR – Target or Acquirer?” for their annual Emerging CFOs Case Competition held at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. A couple of weeks ago, the authors of the case, Karen Hallows and Susan White, who both teach in the finance department, presented the same case at an international conference and were awarded the prestigious Jonathan Welch Award for the best finance, accounting or economics case.
