Smith Hires New Marketing, Finance, Information Technology Faculty
Smith School welcomes five new faculty members for Fall 2024, including experts in marketing, finance, and information technologies. Daniel McCarthy, Xinying Hao, Cathy Chen, Tania Babina, and John Silberholz enhance the academic environment with their diverse research backgrounds and experience, enriching opportunities for students and researchers.
New Faculty Strengthen Smith’s ‘Grand Challenges’ Strategy
Balaji Padmanabhan is among the earliest professors to bring machine learning into an MBA program. Sining Song’s research explores environmental-to-fintech-related factors in supply chain sustainability. And Agustin Hurtado recently analyzed 87 million minority-borrower accounts in a study showing minority bank ownership reduces information frictions and improves credit allocations.These professors are among the nine new tenure-track faculty members and three full time professional track faculty joining the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business this fall.
Maryland Smith Welcomes New Faculty
The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business welcomed eight new faculty members for the start of the fall 2019 semester. The new faculty joined three Smith academic departments to teach courses and focus on research. The Decision, Operations and Information Technologies Department added four faculty members: John Bono, associate clinical professor, has a PhD in information systems from Nova Southeastern University. Jui Ramaprasad, associate professor, has a PhD from the University of California at Irvine.

Smith School Welcomes New Faculty for Fall 2013
Six top researchers and teachers joined the full-time faculty at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business to start the fall 2013 semester. They earned their PhDs at some of the top universities. Two new adjunct instructors will also be teaching courses this fall. The Accounting and Information Assurance department welcomed Emanuel Zur, a new assistant professor who earned his PhD from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
