We are often told that networking can make the difference in our careers. And many of us have thought, at one time or another, that we should be doing more of it. However, while networking is indeed a powerful tool, when it comes to networking, more is not always better.

Reflections on “Smith Start Networking Day”

Smith student Philip Peker ’18 writes about Smith Start Networking Day, held on Feb. 24, 2017, at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. To top off a week full of professional development for the freshman class, the Smith Start program had its culminating Networking Day on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, hosted by one of our most generous sponsors and partners, KPMG. This event allowed the freshman class to apply all the networking skills they learned throughout the week in a very realistic setting.

Smith Students Have Sweet “Sophs’mores” Networking Event

Approximately 30 upperclassmen volunteered their time on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, to share their Smith experiences with sophomores at “Sophs’mores,” a new event in the Smith Journey hosted by the Undergrad Program Office and the Undergraduate Program Board at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.
