This event is ideal for entry-to-mid level marketing professionals, recent college graduates, independent marketers and current Smith business master’s students who want to gain knowledge and make valuable connections within the marketing space.

Rellie Derfler-Rozin
Academic Director and Associate Professor of Management & Organization,
Robert H. Smith School of Business
Rellie Derfler-Rozin conducts extensive research focused on improving employee well-being and finding solutions to boost organizational success. She is an expert on the role status, inclusion, biases, and emotions affect employee decision-making and behavior, including unethical behavior at the workplace. Rellie was recognized by the University of Maryland multiple times as a Distinguished Teacher and was the recipient of the Allen J. Krowe Award for Teaching Excellence. Rellie currently teaches negotiations and business ethics courses in Smith’s MBA, EMBA and master’s in management studies programs.
Rellie earned her PhD in Organizational Behavior from the London Business School. She is also a member of the Academy of Management and the American Psychological Association and is serving as an Associate Editor at the journal Organizational Behavioral and Human Decision Process. In her free time, she enjoys dancing flamenco and spending time with her husband and kids.
Mary Kelly
Mid-Atlantic Sales Manager, Chinola Passion Fruit Liqueur
Mary Kelly has a decade of experience in the fine wine and spirits industry. At Chinola, she oversees the brand’s growth in the Mid-Atlantic region, and maintains strong relationships with company stakeholders. So far, she has helped increase product sales nearly eightfold throughout the region. Prior to Chinola, she worked for Samson & Surrey, where she oversaw the planning of major beverage events and product launches, produced virtual content on Samson & Surrey TV and mentored team members across the United States. Kelly is most passionate about brand engagement, driving beverage sales and creating educational opportunities within the fine wine and spirits industry.
Kelly is a current student in Smith’s Flex MBA program, and received her bachelor’s degree in political science, law and justice from the State University of New York - Cortland. She is a native of New York’s Finger Lakes area and enjoys outdoor activities, visiting museums and cocktail bars and spending time with her partner and dogs.
Mike Salpeter
Northeast Regional Director of CRM, PENN Entertainment
Mike Salpeter leads the analytics and direct marketing operations for the Northeast region of PENN Entertainment - one of the largest gaming entertainment providers in North America. In his current role, he evaluates business trends and competitor activity to help his teams make data-informed marketing decisions for their casinos and other properties. He also partners with properties to enhance their digital marketing and promotional strategies through A/B testing and more strategy targeting. Prior to his current role, Salpeter worked for MGM International and MGM Resorts, leading database marketing efforts and analytics to increase customer response and revenue.
Salpeter also has extensive experience managing, training and engaging talent. He currently oversees hiring and training for his team, and heavily focuses on employee engagement. He advocates for companies to embrace a data-driven culture, educating his teams on the latest techniques in analytics and digital marketing.
Salpeter earned his master’s degree in Marketing Analytics from UMD Smith, and his undergraduate degree from Lehigh University. He currently serves on Smith’s Master’s Program Advisory Council. Salpeter is a native of Bethesda, Maryland and in his spare time enjoys reading, cooking, visiting breweries and exploring new areas.
