University of Maryland Business School Names Finalists in $50,000 Business Plan Competition

Beijing, China August 8, 2007 - The University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business today announced the 20 semifinalists of the schools 2007 China Business Plan Competition. The competition will award winners with more than $50,000 in cash and prizes, including a $25,000 grand prize, $15,000 second prize and $10,000 third prize.

Robert H. Smith School of Business to Host First M&A Competition

Smith School of Business today announced leading U.S. business schools will participate in its first M&A Competition, October 11-12. Teams of up to four MBA students will compete to present a winning M&A pitch that will be delivered to a panel of Wall Street bankers and corporate executives.

Smith MBAs Travel to Europe and South America to Study Global Economy

Each year, more than a hundred Smith MBA and Executive MBA students travel around the world on short-term study abroad courses. Courses are typically offered between semesters and are comprised of 20-35 students led by a faculty guide. Students meet in College Park prior to departure and the trips typically consist of 10 days abroad.

The Smith School's Black MBA Association debuted a new resource - theAfrica Economic Review - in May 2007. Okon Enyenihi, MBA candidate 2008 and the editor of AER, grew up in Africa, spent time in Europe and has lived in the U.S. for about four years.
