Campuses
College Park
The Robert H. Smith School at College Park is the University of Maryland's flagship location, offering four-year undergraduate degrees in eight academic majors: Accounting, finance, information systems, international business, management, marketing, operations management & business analytics, and supply chain management. Students can also choose to minor in Business Analytics, General Business, or Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Students at the College Park campus have the exclusive opportunity to be involved in the Smith community through Fellows Programs such as Strategic Design Fellows and Smith Business Leadership Fellows, as well as join a Top 25 AMA Chapter at UMD AMA.
The Universities at Shady Grove
Shady Grove is an innovative partnership of nine University System of Maryland schools offering qualified transfer students, who have completed a two-year program, the opportunity to earn an undergraduate degree at the Shady Grove campus in Montgomery County. Today, over 300 full-time undergraduate students are enrolled in one of three business majors offered in the Robert H. Smith School of Business program at Shady Grove. Each fall semester, admitted students enroll as part of a cohort group to major in accounting, marketing, and management with a specialization in entrepreneurship. Students complete their degree over four consecutive semesters as full-time students and graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree. The program follows a cohort course format with a pre-set class schedule to assure students complete their degree in four consecutive semesters.
Both the Shady Grove and College Park programs are Limited Enrollment Programs (LEP), with competitive admission requirements. Shady Grove has a maximum of 360 students majoring in BMGT. Both the Shady Grove and College Park programs share the same outstanding faculty and offer state-of-the-art classrooms, customized academic support, career advice, and student leadership/engagement opportunities. Smith School Shady Grove students earn the same degree that Smith School students earn at College Park.

“As an internal transfer to the Smith School of Business, I received nothing short of an accepting and exciting welcome from my peers and professors. The vast amount of resources and organizations that Smith offers made my transition seamless and allowed me to fully immerse myself in the Smith culture through the Strategic Design Fellows program and UMD AMA. I can confidently say that transferring to Smith not only crystallized my career trajectory but also allowed me to form friendships that I will have for life.”
Double Major
The world we live in today is multifaceted and interconnected. No single discipline can be fully understood without incorporating elements from others. That’s why the Smith School of Business encourages students to pursue an interdisciplinary education through double majors. Nearly half of all marketing undergraduates choose to double major, with some of the most common pairings in supply chain management and operations management/business analytics.
