A select group of high-achievers was offered an exclusive look at life as a Smith Terp during the annual Smith Showcase, Dec. 2, 2017, at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. The invitation-only event was attended by 40 prospective students from across the U.S. who are being considered for admission to the Smith School’s Full-Time MBA program.
Prospective students got a sense of what MBA courses are like by participating in a consumer behavior simulation with Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Rebecca Ratner. Students also received a curriculum overview and gained insights into the competitive job market from Associate Dean Michael Faulkender, Assistant Dean Shreevardhan Lele, Office of Career Services, Master Programs Office, alumni, and current students.
Advisory Board members Tony Washington, MBA ’89, senior vice president at FHA Multifamily Lending; Lexy B. Kessler, MBA ’85, partner at Aronson Government Contract Services Group; and Lisa Anders, MBA ’95, vice president of business development at McKissack & McKissack, joined Dean Alex Triantis in a panel discussion about the many benefits of learning, living and working in the greater Washington, D.C., metropolitan region.
“By being with us today, you have reached another milestone in your quest to invest in yourself and your future,” said Triantis. “You’re closer to making one of the most important decisions in your career. Smith Showcase will help you make that decision by presenting one of the top MBA programs in the country. Rigorous, demanding and intensely stimulating, you will learn how the Smith MBA program, taught by world-class faculty and researchers, will transform the way you think about business in the 21st century.”
