The Journal of Accounting and Public Policy (JAPP), edited by two professors at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, launched a new conference series that will rotate among the London School of Economics (LSE), IE Business School and the Smith School. The first conference was held on May 25, 2012, at the London School of Economics, London, UK. The theme of the first conference was “Accounting and Corporate Governance.”

Students, faculty members, corporate partners, and alumni celebrated a year of accomplishments at the Accounting Teaching Scholars dinner and reception on Thursday, April 26. The Accounting Teaching Scholars, an Undergraduate Fellows program, are undergraduate accounting students who serve as discussion leaders and teaching assistants for the Smith School’s two introductory accounting courses while reviewing material in preparation for the CPA exam.

The Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland is recognized as one of the top research institutions in the world, but it is also a place where students can learn from some of the best teachers in the business. Allen J. Krowe, a distinguished alumnus of both the business school and the university, established the Krowe Teaching Awards in 1986 to recognize and promote excellence in teaching.
