Smith School Dean Howard Frank engaged Washington, D.C., area radio listeners recently with a discussion about business in the digital economy. Frank was a guest on the Tomorrow's Business radio program, hosted by Steve Mandell, who is also a partner in the D.C. law firm of Pepper Hamilton. The one-hour Tomorrow's Business program airs on WBIS AM, 1190. In addition, excerpts from the program air throughout the week as "Pepper Moments" on Classical 103.5 FM WGMS, one of Washington, D.C.'s most popular radio stations.

Jane Frank Pledges $500,000 to Smith School of Business
Jane Frank, director and owner of the McLean, Va.-based Worlds of Wonder art gallery, has pledged $500,000 to the Smith School of Business, to honor the contributions of her husband, the school's dean. In recognition of the gift, the school has named its largest auditorium the Howard Frank Auditorium. The 250-seat auditorium is located in the schools new 103,000-square-foot wing, which opened for classes in September 2002.

For their outstanding work in developing a credit-risk model for Constellation, the team was named best MBA consulting project for 2000-03 at a recent awards ceremony.

Contino as the business school's 1999 Distinguished Alumni. Apollony, who received his MBA in finance from the school in 1976, is the senior vice president of First National Bank of Maryland's Healthcare Banking Division. Contino, a 1968 accounting graduate, is executive vice president and CFO of McCormick & Company, Inc.

Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park. The gift will fund the IMC Knowledge Management Seminar Series at the Smith School of Business, providing $15,000 in annual support. It will also fund an annual $2,500 first prize to the school's best MBA Consulting Project team.
