WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 14, 2017) — Federal employees and their spouses will receive a 30 percent tuition discount when they qualify for select graduate programs at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business through a new agreement with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. The FedGrant reduced tuition rate will apply to students admitted after Jan. 30, 2017, to Smith’s online, executive and part-time MBA programs or to any of the school’s specialty masters programs.

The Center for Social Value Creation at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business introduced its first “Leadership for Better Business Award” at the annual Social Enterprise Symposium on Friday, March 3, 2017. The award was created to recognize individuals who embody business principles that advance economic, social and environmental prosperity.

The Smith Master Student Association (SMSA) and affiliated specialty masters clubs at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business recently voted to establish the Master Service Learning Club (MSLC). MSLC will serve as a bridge between non-profit organizations and Smith masters students. Two teams of MS in Supply Chain Management students from the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business placed second and third at the recent annual APICS Mid Atlantic District Case Competition. The Case Competition was held on Feb. 24-25, 2017, in Pittsburgh, Pa. More than 22 teams participated in the preliminary rounds of the competition, and only five teams made it to the final round in Pittsburgh—four of those teams were from the University of Maryland.

On Feb. 3, 2017, student officers of the Smith Master Student Association (SMSA) and affiliated clubs at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business participated in a day-long program with the Gettysburg Leadership Experience in Gettysburg, Pa.

Smith School of Business, Jennifer Lee-Harrison, EMBA '11, held numerous consulting jobs, rose to a senior director position, collaborated with Steve Harvey, and contributed to a successful strategic marketing plan.
