Inspiring Innovation: How Companies can Get the Most out of their Employees to Get and Stay Ahead
American companies have been known for innovation. But how can they continue to stay innovative and keep ahead?
In this issue of Smith Business Close-Up with the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, host Jeff Salkin sits down with Rajshree Agarwal to talk about the future of innovation in America and how companies can inspire entrepreneurship among their employees.
Dr. Agarwal is the Rudolph P. Lamone Chair and professor in Entrepreneurship and the academic director of the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship. She focuses her research on the implications of entrepreneurship and innovation for industry and firm evolution. Her recent projects examine the micro-foundations of macro phenomena, linking knowledge diffusion among firms, industries, and regions to the underlying mechanisms of employee entrepreneurship and mobility. Agarwal has published articles in top academic journals and won numerous awards for her work. Consistent with her interests in innovation, she strives to incorporate the latest pedagogical technologies in her teaching, and has won many awards for teaching excellence and a demonstrated increase in teaching productivity.
