In the wake of several U.S. recalls involving products made in China, six Smith School students traveled China in early September 2007 to get an up-close look at manufacturing in that country. The students, including one second-year MBA and five undergraduates, toured four factories as part of the trip, which was arranged through the schools Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship.

There are 24 new students hailing from nine countries entering Smith's PhD program this fall. The doctoral program is competitive with the worlds top business school, attracting excellent students in every discipline and averaging approximately 25 applications for every student admitted. Currently, there are 100 students in the program.
Members of the new full-time MBA class kicked off their Smith School experience Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, the first day of a weeklong orientation to introduce them to Smith and the programs they'll be immersed in for the next two years, as well as provide a chance to meet faculty, staff and each other.

Smith School of Business today announced leading U.S. business schools will participate in its first M&A Competition, October 11-12. Teams of up to four MBA students will compete to present a winning M&A pitch that will be delivered to a panel of Wall Street bankers and corporate executives.
