The LGBT Equity Center is holding space for our constituents who are mourning the passing of Jude Maloney (he/they). This space will be centered on the grieving and holding space for the LGBTQ+ communities at UMD, though we invite all who would like to join who are in concert with our values and who will give space to centering LGBTQ+ people and voices. Working in partnership with Victor Mullins, Jeanette Snider and the undergraduate program, the revived Black Business Association is now providing channels of opportunity for all UMD black undergraduate students interested in pursuing business. Through events, academic programming, guest lectures, service projects, trips, and social events, BBA will educate, empower, and develop our members to be ready for the future of work. Join the African American History and Culture Museum for a conversation with Ibram X. Kendi, author of How to Be an Antiracist, and Keisha N. Blain, author of Set the World on Fire. Kendi and Blain have assembled 90 extraordinary writers to document the four-hundred-year journey of African Americans from 1619 to the present. Entitled Four Hundred Souls, each contributor writes about a five-year period of 400 years of American history using essays, short stories, personal vignettes, and fiery polemics.
