International Education Week (IEW) was back in person in 2022 for the Smith community during the week of November 14-18. IEW is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education “to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences.”

Lightning Talks is a series of virtual discussions covering business resilience and how businesses can prepare for future global shocks. A series of three installments, the Talks are organized and co-sponsored by nine universities across the country including the University of Maryland and its Robert H.

The Maryland Smith Center for Global Business offered the first iteration of the Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) Student Pathways Cohort program during the spring 2022 semester.

Each year, Baltimore expands its reach and reputation as a key hub for business and innovation. In its 11th year, Baltimore Innovation Week celebrates that growth with a week-long showcase of the city’s entrepreneurial spirit.

Anyone who knows anything about supply chain management knows one thing: it is “very” complicated. There are many moving parts, and with companies pushing efficiency in order to drive down costs, unexpected disruptions and changes in policy can cause large impacts all the way down the supply chain.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses around the world faced unprecedented pressure to safely maintain their operations. Many struggled, but five Maryland-based exporting companies have shared how they rose to the challenge.

This fall, the Center for Global Business welcomed 36 incoming exchange students to the Robert H. Smith School of Business, and for the first time since spring 2020, exchange programs have almost completely returned to pre-pandemic levels.

This summer, Maryland Smith students solved international business problems for Maryland companies through two programs offered by the Center for Global Business – the Marketing Maryland Virtual Internship Program and the Maryland Global Consulting Program. These programs provided students the opportunity to develop professional skills, and expand their work experience by applying their classroom…

A $1.34 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education through its Title IV Centers for International Business (CIBE) program will enable the Center for Global Business at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business to expand its portfolio of programs through 2026.

At Maryland Smith, students have the opportunity to create tangible, real-world solutions to critical issues across the business world. And this semester, students banded together to address another pressing issue – supply chain management and disruptions.
