Smith Undergrads’ ‘Woodstock for Capitalists’ Experience includes ‘Buffett v. Mayweather’

This year’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc., annual shareholder meeting coincided with the conglomerate’s 50-year anniversary under Chairman Warren Buffett  – and the Floyd Mayweather- Manny Pacquiao boxing showdown.

Finance undergraduates in the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business engaged with legendary investor Leon Cooperman in a “lunch and learn” session in New York City on May 26, 2015.

On April 20, 2015, the Accounting and Information Assurance Department at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business hosted its annual Accounting Teaching Scholars  (ATS) dinner.

Five teams of undergraduate finance students at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business participated in the 12th Annual Joseph M. Wikler Finance Case Competition on Friday, April 24, 2015. Students presented their solutions on a Reliance Communications case, a company overloaded with debt that needed to find financing to continue operations.

As tax season comes to a close, the new Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) chapter at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business celebrated their first season of operation, and almost 100 returns filed successfully.
