Wall Street Finance Fellows is designed to improve education and employment opportunities for undergraduates interested in careers on Wall Street, including investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, sales and trading, asset management and private banking. Students will learn how to compete for these positions, interview successfully, and excel in their internships.

Students are matched with an alum in the growing Smith School community on Wall Street. Students receive individual coaching preparing them to compete for a summer investment banking internship which will well-position them to secure a full-time position in the industry upon graduation.

Julie Pavlovsky is the faculty champion for this program.

Curriculum: One-Year Program

Admitted Fall 2024

Spring – Sophomore Year

  • BMGT398W: One-credit course on the investment industry, featuring industry speakers and interview prep.

Fall – Junior Year

  • BMGT342F: Wall Street Finance – A case-based course focused on skills needed on Wall Street.

Admitted Spring 2025

Pre-requisite courses (to be completed before Fall 2025):

  • BMGT220: Principles of Accounting I
  • BMGT230: Business Statistics or BMGT231: Statistical Models for Business (or equivalents)

Fall – Sophomore Year

  • BMGT340: Business Finance (if not already completed) – Can take any BMGT340 section offered in College Park.
  • BMGT398W: One-credit course on the investment industry, featuring industry speakers and interview prep.
  • New York City Trip: Visit investment banks and network with alumni.
  • Industry Mentorship: Connect with an assigned Smith alumni mentor.

Spring – Sophomore Year

  • BMGT342F: Wall Street Finance – A case-based course focused on skills needed on Wall Street.
  • New York City Trip: Visit investment banks and network with alumni.
  • Industry Mentorship: Continue networking with an assigned Smith alumni mentor.
  • Internship Competition: Compete for a high-finance summer internship.
  • Case Studies: Learn mergers & acquisitions, private equity deals, and IPOs through real-world cases.

Eligibility Requirements

  • First-year (rising sophomore) or second-year (rising junior) student.
  • Finance major.
  • Must complete BMGT220 and BMGT230 by the end of the application semester.
  • Must have completed or be concurrently enrolled in BMGT340.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required; 3.5 GPA preferred.
  • Must be available for a summer internship between junior and senior year—the program is designed to support your internship search.
